So just what kit do well-dressed, ready-for-anything archaeologists need to have with them out in the field?

 

Quite a bit, is the answer.  

Once loaded up, we can look like something out of an Indiana Jones movie ...

So where's the trowel then?

 

Well, contrary to popular belief, archaeologists don't always need a trowel - or indeed a big yellow digger (JCB) - to find archaeology.    For, much of it can be found without any digging at all - and Tricks of the Trade will reveal how you too can find the history that is lurking beneath our feet and hidden in full view all around us.

 

And, despite the evidence of our loaded archaeologist above, you can find archaeology without being laden like a pack donkey - just get out in the fresh air and keep those eyes peeled.
